Dick Morris: DON’T RUN NOVICES FOR SENATE

We have an excellent chance to defeat twelve Democratic incumbents (and to pick up the vacant seat of North Dakota’s Kent Conrad)....

in each case, the Tea Party supporters should carefully vet the established front running Republican candidates. Where they are found wanting – as Mike Castle was in Delaware and Charlie Crist was in Florida – by all means find opponents who are genuine conservatives and back them in the primary. But when the likely Republican nominee is a solid conservative, don’t mess around. Get behind him or her... read the rest

$32 Billion in Budget Cuts Proposed

$32 Billion in Budget Cuts Proposed
...The Republican proposal is effectively $58 billion less than the domestic and foreign aid programs in President Obama’s budget request for 2011 — far short of the $100 billion in cuts that Representative John A. Boehner promised before the November elections...

Undoing Obamacare: Senate repeal fails 47-51 on party-line vote; 1099 provision killed 83-17

Undoing Obamacare: Senate repeal fails 47-51 on party-line vote; 1099 provision killed 83-17 Michelle Malkin
Senate Republicans took their stand — forcing the Dems to go on record in defense of the Obamacare nightmare from which hundreds of unions have escaped.

"Senators also voted another amendment alongside the House repeal bill. A Democratic amendment offered by Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow, which called for the full repeal of the 1099 reporting requirement for medical businesses purchasing equipment worth $600 or more, passed by a vote of 83-17."

The Right needs better grassroots infrastructure

The Right needs better grassroots infrastructure The Daily Caller
...(T)he Left has monetized its activists and educated them to take sophisticated action on a given issue at the drop of a hat. The Right buys ineffective TV ads, builds “coalitions” and has no sustainable structure to show for the many millions it has invested. This misdirection of critical resources in the face of markedly changing dynamics cannot be highlighted enough....

There are reasons to be optimistic. The state think tanks do excellent work geared toward policy education specifically aimed at local officials and legislators. Groups such as the TheVanguard.org, headed by the visionary Dr. Rod Martin, have emerged to challenge MoveOn as a genuinely potent platform for center-right e-activism and fundraising. The Right has even found Facebook and Twitter to be effective tools for communication and organization. Ultimately, however, these favorable indicators must be rolled into a new way of doing business that takes a longer view toward building a permanent political structure that can match and spar with the Left; not consultant-loaded campaigns that disband the first Wednesday in November. This requires coordination, vision and integration, and there is no time to waste.

Black History Month

CRP Statement on Black History Month

SACRAMENTO -- California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring today issued the following statement in celebration of Black History Month:

"Today begins the month-long celebration of African-American heritage and the history of their extraordinary accomplishments. The California Republican Party takes great pride in celebrating the legacy of the contributions that African-Americans have made to our country and our state.

"Historically, the Republican Party has enjoyed a great political bond with African-Americans -- Republicans worked to pass the Thirteenth Amendment, which outlawed slavery, the Fourteenth, which guaranteed equal protection under the laws, and the Fifteenth, which helped secure voting rights for African-Americans. That historic relationship is why the first African-American congressmen and California's first African-American legislators were Republicans. The CRP proudly joins with members of the African-American community in celebrating the entrepreneurs, inventors, and political leaders who have helped make this country the greatest nation on Earth."
