CNN poll: 2020 Democrats— Sahil Kapur (@sahilkapur) August 20, 2019
Biden 29% (+7 since late June)
Sanders 15% (+1)
Warren 14% (-1)
Buttigieg 5% (+1)
Harris 5% (-12)
O’Rourke 3% (-)
Booker 2% (-1)
Castro 2% (+1)
Gabbard 2% (+1)

Mayor Pete "Boat Shoes" Buttigieg and Sen. Kamala "Five-O" Harris were once considered "top tier" contenders in the 2020 Democratic primary. A new poll from CNN suggests that is no longer the case.
Boat Shoes and Five-O are mired in fourth place at 5 percent, well behind the emerging top tier of candidates. Joe Biden remains the frontrunner with 29 percent support, while Sens. Bernie Sanders (I., VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) are neck-in-neck with 15 percent and 14 percent, respectively. The poll is especially bad news for Harris, whose support has plummeted 12 percentage points since late June.
Meanwhile, failed Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke remains irrelevant despite his best efforts to rebrand himself as the candidate who is most offended by racism. Julián Castro and Sen. Cory Booker are also bordering on statistical irrelevance despite recent debate performances that were widely praised by pundits.
CNN poll shows “electability” is still top-of-mind of Democrats.— Sahil Kapur (@sahilkapur) August 20, 2019
On who beats Trump, it’s Biden 35%, Warren 15%, Sanders 14%, Harris 7%, Buttigieg 5%.
54% prefer a nominee “with a strong chance of beating Trump,” while 39% prefer one who shares their position on major issues.
For a guy who lost his last two presidential bids…badly…it’s pretty bold for Joe Biden’s campaign to argue his greatest strength is electability. https://t.co/sc2WdZ8MSk— Richard Walters (@rww_gop) August 20, 2019
Not sure I’ve ever seen the electability argument made this explicitly in a primary with a big field https://t.co/u4TGVjcuHd— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) August 20, 2019
I have never met a Biden supporter - or even seen so much as a Biden bumper sticker, yet we’re supposed to believe Biden’s the lead? What sort of baloney is this 🤔😠 #WheresBiden? Why are they #HidinBiden 🤨— cdbrzezinski ⏳🌹 (@cdbrzezinski) August 20, 2019

If one more candidate qualifies for the mid-September debate, it will expand the debate to another two-night affair. 10 have currently qualified.https://t.co/4xXhb8kGcw
