President Trump Answers Press Question About Closing U.S-Mexico Border…

The public has the right to know the truth

The manner in which this case was dismissed was abnormal and unfamiliar to those who practice law in criminal courthouses across the State. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges alike do not recognize the arrangement Mr. Smollett received. Even more problematic, the State’s Attorney and her representatives have fundamentally misled the public on the law and circumstances surrounding the dismissal.

POOR DEMOCRATS, THEY LOSE ANOTHER THING TO CRY ABOUT

Like clockwork, Attorney General William Barr dropped a follow-up letter regarding the Mueller report just before 5 p.m. on a Friday. More notable than his confirmation that he plans on releasing the report by "mid-April" is the fact that he confirmed that special counsel Robert Mueller is in fact personally assisting in preparing the report for public consumption. This detail effectively takes the wind of out of the sails of anyone hoping that Barr massively misconstrued Mueller's findings in his primary letter from last week.

Despite left-wing meltdowns that Barr has rigged the release of the Mueller report, he really couldn't be more transparent about the process.

Here's Why John F. Kennedy Once Passionately Argued To Keep The Electoral College

...To be sure, Trump has skin in the game, having won the electoral college and “lost” the so-called “popular vote.” But others have weighed in as well throughout history, including none other than then-Senator John F. Kennedy, who in 1956 called the idea “one of the most far-reaching, and I believe mistaken-schemes ever proposed to alter the American constitutional system.”...

According to the Congressional Record, Kennedy praised our current system as one in which “third parties and splinter parties are effectively discouraged from playing more than a negligible role.”

“Today we have an electoral vote system which gives both large States and small States certain advantages and disadvantages that offset each other,” he said on the Senate floor. “Now it is proposed that we change all this. What the effects of these various changes will be on the Federal system, the two-party system, the popular plurality system, and the large-State small-State checks and balances system, no one knows.”

In part of his speech, Kennedy even quoted James Madison: “This government is not completely consolidated, nor is it entirely federal … Who are the parties to it? The people, not as the people comprising one great body, but the people comprising 13 sovereignties.” ...

“The Republican Party is the party for all Americans. It’s what we want to be. It’s the way we want to live... We are the party of the American dream.”

California Democrats want lower threshold to raise local taxes

...taxpayer advocates said it would make things more expensive for homeowners in particular because it could lead to more parcel taxes, a flat tax levied on property owners.

“If this passes it’s going to be devastating for property owners,” said David Wolfe, legislative director for the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association.

Constitutional amendments need support from two-thirds of lawmakers to land on the ballot, and the backing of a simple majority of voters to become law.

Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry, a Democrat sponsoring the amendment, said she hopes to place it on the November 2020 ballot. That would coincide with the presidential election, which usually draws the highest voter turnout and millions more Democrats than Republicans....

The same house costs $500,000 more to build in California than Texas

...“In Texas, they have one new home community under construction today for every 10,000 people. In Florida, they build one new home community for every 20,000 people. In California, the ratio is one community per 45,000 people. The result is that [home builders] who build and sell substantially the same house in Texas for $300,000 as they build in California for $800,000,” writes Pete Reeb, a principal at John Burns Real Estate Consulting, in a new analysis.

California is a unique — and difficult — market for three primary reasons, according to Reeb. It can take 10 years or more to get a master-planned community approved for development, according to John Burns Northern California expert Dean Wehrli.

“And it’s a BIG IF that you will even get approvals, while subdivisions that already have substantial conformance with local zoning laws can take three to five very expensive years,” adds Reeb.

Additionally, California’s development fees are exorbitant. Homebuilders have to pay $25,000 to $75,000 in fees for a single home to be built in some areas of the state. Of course, that expense pushes prices higher for homebuyers.

Finally, although California has plenty of land to construct on, there are many restrictions on where homebuilders can and can’t build....

How California is becoming more like Venezuela

With total domination in the Capitol, Democrats are ignoring voters’ will on rent control and the death penalty, making California more autocratic....

Having achieved total domination of the Capitol, Democratic politicians clearly resent sharing lawmaking authority with voters. We have seen numerous attempts to kneecap the initiative process. We’ve seen Democratic attorneys general twist the ballot wording of measures they oppose, such as last year’s effort to repeal new gas taxes, and we’ve seen those attorney generals and governor refuse to defend voter-approved initiatives in court.

The latest wrinkle appears to be an increasing willingness by the dominant Democrats to thumb their noses at voters by pursuing policies that contradict what the voters decreed.....

If governors and legislators can simply ignore the will of voters, or block them from making decisions politicians don’t like, then California becomes more autocratic and less small-d democratic.

That’s the sort of thing that Third World dictators, such as Venezuela’s current despot, do. It’s the sort of thing that Democratic politicians routinely accuse Donald Trump of doing.

It disrespects the people they purport to serve.
