Did you know that Project Gutenberg has free classic books to read online or in reader apps? For example, Journal of a Plague Year https://t.co/Z3Wxy6HErq (or check out what your local library offers for modern ebooks)

Contagion, stockpiling, self-isolation, all were described in Daniel Defoe's A JOURNAL OF THE PLAGUE YEAR. Caveat: not a 1st-hand account. Defoe was 5 in 1665. His journalistic account was published in 1722.
