The National Rifle Association (NRA) @nationalrifleassociation is urging its members to attend a January 13, 2020, Senate meeting and let their pro-gun voices be heard. The NRA sent Breitbart News a press release saying: “[January 13 is] NRA Lobby Day in Richmond. NRA Grassroots is inviting members and supporters to come to the Capitol to meet with their lawmakers to share the facts about the Northam Gun Confiscation scheme and to make their opposition known.” The Washington Free Beacon reports that NRA spokeswoman Catherine Mortensen made clear one of the main goals is to have NRA members “appear at the first meeting of the Virginia Senate’s Courts of Justice,” which is on January 13. That same day, the NRA plans a news conference with key legislators, like Del. Todd Gilbert (R) and Sen. Mark Obenshain (R). Others will also take part in the presser with the goal of “testifying against the Northam gun confiscation scheme.” On December 18, 2019, Breitbart News reported that 86 of Virginia’s 95 counties had declared themselves Second Amendment Sanctuaries to make clear they do not intend to enforce any new gun controls passed by the incoming Democrat majority. “Our faith is needed now more than ever,”

President Donald Trump launched the Evangelicals for Trump coalition in South Florida on Friday, earning cheers from faithful supporters. “I really do believe we have God on our side, I believe that … or there would have been no way we could have won, right?” Trump said. The president delivered a faith-filled speech to a crowd of evangelical supporters gathered at El Rey Jesus Church. Rev. Billy Graham’s son Franklin Graham, his daughter Cissie Graham Lynch, Dr. James Dobson and his wife Shirley, Pastor Robert Jeffress, and other prominent voices in the evangelical movement also attended the event. Trump reminded Americans that they needed to renew the importance of faith and family if they were to thrive in the next century. “Our faith is needed now more than ever,” he said. “While certain fads come and go, it is an eternal truth that faith and family lead to the stability, happiness, and prosperity of nations.” Trump reminded Evangelicals that Democrat presidential candidates would continue to work against their values. “Our opponents want to shut out God from the public square so they can impose an extreme anti-religious and socialist agenda,” Trump said. The president previewed a future law enforcement action from Attorney General Bill Barr to protect teachers and students who want to pray in schools. “We will not allow faithful Americans to be bullied by the hard left,” he said. “We’re not going to allow it.”

Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Thursday evening that President Donald Trump had even more legal authority to eliminate Qassem Soleimani than former President Barack Obama had to take out Osama bin Laden in 2011. Dershowitz, speaking with host Joel Pollak and guest host John Hayward on SiriusXM’s @siriusxm Breitbart News Tonight, dismissed arguments that Trump lacked constitutional authority to act against General Soleimani, the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force. Presidents have lawful authority to direct the killing of enemy combatants, explained Dershowitz. “[Soleimani] was a combatant,” explained Dershowitz. “There’s no doubt that he fit the description of ‘combatant.’ He [was] a uniformed member of an enemy military who was actively planning to kill Americans; American soldiers and probably, as well, American civilians.” “It was the right thing to do,” he added. “It was legally justified, and I think we should applaud the president for his decision. We send a very powerful message to the Iranian government that we will not stand by as the American embassy is attacked — which is an act of war — and we will not stand by as plans are being made to attack and kill American soldiers. Dershowitz continued, “I think every president who had any degree of courage would do the same thing, and I applaud our president for doing it, and the members of the military who carried it out, risking their own lives and safety. I think this is an action that will have saved lives in the end.” “President Obama would have done the same thing if the shoe were on the other foot, if he could prevent the killing of American soldiers by killing a combatant,” estimated Dershowitz. “[The president doesn’t] need congressional authorization, or any legal authorization … The president, as the commander-in-chief of the army is entitled to take preventative actions to save the lives of the American military. [Donald Trump] didn’t threaten a war. He didn’t start a war.”
