RUTHLESS? Prominent Democrats are threatening to expand the size of the Supreme Court to cancel out President Donald Trump’s court picks if Republicans vote on late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s replacement this year. But Ginsburg herself rejected packing the court when asked about it last year. “Nine seems to be a good number. It’s been that way for a long time,” she told NPR in July 2019. “I think it was a bad idea when President Franklin Roosevelt tried to pack the court.” Left-wing activists have been pushing Democratic politicians to endorse court-packing since Justice Anthony Kennedy’s 2018 retirement cleared the way for Justice Brett Kavanaugh to join the high court. Some congressional Democrats embraced the idea following Ginsburg’s death Friday night. Tap our stories to read more. Photo: Erik McGregor, Getty Images

Democrats are threatening to expand the Supreme Court and pack it with their own judges if the GOP moves forward with filling a vacancy left after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death last week.⠀ ⠀ Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) wrote in a statement: “Mitch McConnell set the precedent. No Supreme Court vacancies filled in an election year. If he violates it, when Democrats control the Senate in the next Congress, we must abolish the filibuster and expand the Supreme Court.”⠀ ⠀ Read this article: https://ept.ms/3iLTAlg⠀ ⠀ Get one month FREE FULL ACCESS to Epoch Digital.⠀ Sign up here: https://ept.ms/FreeMonth (no credit card needed)⠀ ⠀ GET THE APP: https://ept.ms/DownloadApp
